Overview

The trip, in short

A three-day, two-night Amboseli safari focused on elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli is one of the more compact parks on Kenya’s safari circuit, and that works in its favour on a short trip — you don’t lose time covering ground, so more of it goes into actual game viewing. The park is best known for its elephant herds, some of the largest and most habituated in East Africa, moving across the open plains and swamps with Kilimanjaro rising behind them on a clear morning.

Three days gives you two full days of game drives at the times of day the light and the animals cooperate best — early morning and late afternoon — with the option of a Maasai village visit to round out the trip. It’s a good standalone short safari or a compact add-on to a longer Kenya itinerary.
