Ziwa Bush Lodge

Ziwa Bush Lodge is a boutique bush retreat set among indigenous trees and landscaped gardens in the Nakuru area. Built with local stone, canvas, makuti roofing and handcrafted Kenyan furniture, the lodge combines a relaxed countryside atmosphere with comfortable accommodation. Its peaceful setting makes it a convenient base for exploring Lake Nakuru National Park, Menengai Crater and other attractions in the Great Rift Valley.

<p>Ziwa Bush Lodge takes its name from the Swahili word for lake, and it earns it — set into acacia bush close to Lake Nakuru’s shoreline, with a low-key, unpolished feel compared to the larger lodges on the ridge above. Cottages are simple and close to the ground, giving the sense of camping without actually giving up a proper bed and en-suite bathroom.</p><p>It’s a good fit for travellers who want to be near the wildlife without paying for polish — the lodge’s proximity to the lake means flamingo photography and rhino tracking can both happen before the larger tour groups from town arrive. Meals are straightforward and generous, served in an open-sided dining area that looks straight into the bush.</p>
