The property
Lerai Safari Camp is the only permanent camp within the 5,000-acre Olerai Conservancy in the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem. Set along the seasonal Muliban River beneath a canopy of acacia trees, the intimate camp has just eight canvas tented suites, creating an exclusive and highly personalised safari experience. The conservancy offers excellent wildlife viewing with resident giraffe, eland, elephants, predators and abundant birdlife, while night drives and guided walks provide experiences that are not available inside the national reserve. Guests also enjoy access to the Maasai Mara National Reserve during their stay.
Lerai Safari Camp offers a rare combination of privacy, luxury and authentic wilderness in the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem. It is the only permanent safari camp in the 5,000-acre Olerai Conservancy, giving guests an unusually intimate experience away from the busier areas of the Mara.
The camp features just eight spacious canvas tented suites, accommodating a maximum of 16 guests. Each suite is positioned within the surrounding acacia woodland and features a private verandah facing the river or open plains.
Inside, guests enjoy comfortable safari-style furnishings, an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold shower and bath, solar-powered lighting, charging facilities and a safe.
The seasonal Muliban River attracts wildlife close to camp, while the surrounding conservancy provides habitat for elephants, giraffes, eland, buffalo, predators and numerous bird species.
Because the camp is located in a private conservancy, guests can experience night game drives and guided walking safaris, offering a different perspective of the Mara ecosystem from a traditional national-park safari.
With only eight suites, Lerai Safari Camp maintains a quiet and highly personal atmosphere. Guests can enjoy bush breakfasts, sundowners, bush dinners, cultural experiences and carefully guided wildlife excursions.
The camp also provides access to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, allowing guests to combine the exclusive conservancy experience with the expansive plains and wildlife of the famous reserve.
Lerai Safari Camp was developed with minimal disturbance to the landscape and operates with a strong conservation and community focus. The Olerai Conservancy was established through agreements with Maasai landowners to protect wildlife habitat and maintain important wildlife corridors.
